At UW Math

I was a grad student in the probability theory group at Wisconsin in roughly the same class as Wenbo. His brilliance as a Mathematician was very apparent. His friendly and seeming extroverted nature was the first thing that struck you. As an American student in the UW Math Department during the mid eighties it was rare to have such a close friend from mainland China. I spoke with him on the telephone maybe 10 years ago, having moved to the DC area and eventually taking a position as a Statistician at the National Cancer Institute. He invited me to the University of Delaware to talk about careers in applied statistics. I initially accepted but unfortunately had to change my plans. I will miss my brilliant warm and friendly friend very much.
